On this page you’ll find a copy of Paul's presentation (ably assisted by ChatGPT!) alongside audition pieces which you can download using the buttons below. Auditions will be held at the Clubhouse on Sunday 1st December from 6pm. You'll also find a link below to the audition form - please make sure you fill it in before the auditions so we know who to expect on the night!

The auditions will be an opportunity for you to show Paul, Robert and Penny what you can do, and audition pieces for named principals can be downloaded below. If you're interested in auditioning for the ensemble rather than a principal part you can bring along any song you feel comfortable singing. The auditions will start with a group dance/movement session so make sure you're wearing something you can move in!

If you have any questions please email Paul directly otherwise we look forward to seeing you next Sunday!

Urinetown is a brilliant dark comedy musical tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold and a terrible drought has outlawed private toilets and a public health act forbids public urination! This production is being brought to us by the revolutionary team of Paul Grace, Robert Randall and Penny Brown and will be staged at the Mitre Theatre next Easter. We're so excited to see what they'll do with a show that catapults the “comedic romp” into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit, and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.

If you don't know the show, you're in for a treat! It's an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Emulating the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown has been praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be. Like the Mitre Players ourselves, Urinetown is no stranger to awards, winning three Tony Awards, three Outer Critic’s Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards, and two Obie Awards

The Principal Roles are as follows:

Officer Lockstock (30-60)
A cynical and somewhat humorous police officer who serves as a narrator, commenting on the events and often breaking the fourth wall.

Little Sally (Early teens)
One of the poor who use the public amenity and joins the revolution. She makes up a double act with Lockstock, breaking the fourth wall. She’s young but strangely savvy for her years.

Penelope Pennywise (40-60)
The tough, no-nonsense manager of the public toilets who is caught between loyalty to the authorities and her own personal interests.

Bobby Strong (20s)
The protagonist who becomes the leader of the revolt against the oppressive government. He is passionate, idealistic, and determined to bring justice.

Hope Cladwell (Late teen-early 20s)
The daughter of the villain, Caldwell B. Cladwell. She falls in love with Bobby and becomes involved in the rebellion. Young and ridiculously naïve and romantic.

Caldwell B. Cladwell (40-60)
The villain; a corrupt businessman who controls the city's water supply and profits from people's suffering.
