Based on the film “A Private Function” written by Alan Bennett (which starred, amongst others: Michael Palin, Maggie Smith, Denhom Elliott, Richard Griffiths, Liz Smith, Bill Paterson and Alison Steadman.) Betty Blue Eyes has music and lyrics by Mitre favourites; George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Honk!, Just So and Wind in the Willows). The original 2011 London production featured Sarah Lancashire and Reece Shearsmith, with Betty’s voice sung by Kylie Minogue.
It is a large cast show and there is still space for more participants - especially men. If you would like to be part of the brilliant show and haven’t yet expressed an interest, please do so by contacting; betty@mitreplayers.org.uk. The cast is as follows.

Meet our new Musical Director: Jane Wherry
We’re delighted to welcome Jane as our MD for Betty Blue Eyes. She says:
Hello Mitres! I’m very excited to be working with you on Betty Blue Eyes. I’ve been involved in musical theatre for many years now - I like to keep everyone guessing whether I will pop up on the stage or in the pit - I love it all! My most recent shows have been Joseph (as MD) and Sweeney Todd (as Mrs Lovett), both with WWOS. I’m looking forward to meeting you soon and working with you on this fabulous tuneful show!
